Programs
Band
Band 1st year & 2nd year
LeGette Elementary School band is taught by our music teacher, Mrs. Teresi.
LeGette has both 1st year band and 2nd year band. All interested 5th and 6th grade students are invited to join the LeGette Band. No prior musical experience is necessary for the 1st year band.
Both the 1st year and 2nd year bands will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays before school. The 2nd year band will practice from 7:15 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and the 1st year band will practice from 7:45 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
There is no registration fee to join the band, however students are required to furnish their own instruments and purchase a band t-shirt for $10. Sweatshirts are also available for $25.
Mrs. Teresi will teach the standard elementary band instruments: flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion (bells and drums).
Local music stores rent and sell instruments for student use. The school does not own any instruments to loan out.
Choosing the correct instrument is very important to the success of the student. Mrs. Teresi can help students choose the appropriate instrument. Do not purchase instruments from EBAY or discount stores without checking with Mrs. Teresi. Some of these instruments are of VERY poor quality, and are not worth the purchase price.
Additional student items such as music books and a portable music stand are also required.
Band students will need to practice at least 50 minutes per week at home.
Choir
All interested 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are invited to join the LeGette choir.
No audition is necessary. Choir is taught by our music teacher, Cindy Teresi.
The LeGette choir practices every Wednesday before school from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. While there is no registration fee to join the choir, each singer must purchase a choir shirt, at a cost of $10. Sweatshirts will also be available this year for $25. We wear our choir shirts and black bottoms for all performances.
Participating in the school choir program is fun and rewarding! The LeGette choir participates in numerous performances during the school year including singing the National Anthem at a Sacramento Kings basketball game (5th & 6th graders only), a Sacramento River Cats game, a Sac Republic FC game as well as community service concerts, San Juan Sings, and performing for our very own student body during the school concerts in the winter and spring.
There are three concerts which have a mandatory performance requirement:
Our Spring Choir and Band Concert will be held on Thursday, May 19 @ Fair Oaks Church.
LeGette choir is a building block for students to continue in choir at the middle school and high school levels where there are even more opportunities to participate in many exciting school, area and state events.
