LeGette Parent Teacher Organization
We hope you'll take a few minutes to explore this section of the website to see how your PTO makes a difference for each and every child at Earl LeGette Elementary.
If you have a student at Earl Legette Elementary school consider yourself a part of Earl LeGette Parent Teacher Organization. Our PTO consists of 6 executive board members, administration, teachers and parents like you. Volunteers are so important to supporting the overall atmosphere and experience of your child’s time at LeGette.
What Does Earl Legette PTO Do?
We provides leadership, funding, and support for student programs, parent education, and school community-building events!
Organize Organzing events and fundraisers is a key part of our PTO. We organize events like our Annual Carnival, jog-a-thon, book fairs, holiday shop and our annual auction night. Without these fundraisers providing money back to the school would not be possible. Check out our website www.legettepto.com to see our Events Calendar.
Enhance
Through fundraising efforts PTO is able to provide $$ directly back to the teachers to help with costs for supplies, field trips and much more. PTO also provides assistance for the purchase of technology, books and equipment to ensure our students have a great experience while attending Legette. Last year we were able to purchase new chairs for the MP Room, outdoor tables for lunch time and jog-a-thon money went directly back to the classrooms.
Support
Supporting students & staff is the heart of what we do. Whether its helping in the classrooms or events there’s always room for more VOLUNTEERS. If you want to help but can't take on a big role like chairperson let us know we have many jobs to be done and could use any help.
We hope you will consider attending meetings (IT'S FREE) and volunteering for different activities throughout the school year! If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to us at legettepto@gmail.com or you can visit our website for more information www.legettepto.com.

Fundraising
The LeGette PTA provides funding for many school activities that would not exist otherwise. There are a number of ways parents, family and friends can help provide financial support to the LeGette PTA:
Kids Are Worth It
LeGette PTA's capital fundraising campaign is called "Kids Are Worth It!" We avoid having our students sell candy or wrapping paper and instead gives our families the opportunity to support our school directly. Your donation is tax-deductible, and any amount you contribute goes a long way to support the many PTA programs that enrich your children's lives. The "Kids Are Worth It!" fundraising campaign begins in August of each school year. Donations are accepted all year long. Check with your employer to see if they will match your donation.
Scrip
Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks or credit cards. Gift cards are purchased from the LeGette PTA at face value then those cards are ordered at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate for LeGette PTA. It's really that simple. When you use scrip gift cards at your favorite retailers, you're fundraising while you shop just by using scrip to pay for your normal weekly purchases. It's time to put your shopping dollars to work! Visit www.shopwithscrip.com to get started today.

Volunteer
Volunteers make things happen at LeGette!
Volunteers are needed and valued in San Juan Unified. Any adult volunteer who will work alone with students at any time must be fingerprinted. This includes driving for or chaperoning on field trips, working with students outside the immediate supervision of a staff member, or walking students to and from the office.
San Juan Unified values volunteers in our schools and community. To ensure a positive experience and protect the safety of our students, staff and others, the district implements a volunteer verification process. All volunteers must complete the verification process BEFORE they can be allowed to volunteer on a school campus or at a school-related activity.
If you have been fingerprinted by SJUSD since 2012, you may not need to be fingerprinted again. By law, fingerprint results done by another business or organization cannot be transferred to SJUSD or any other agency.
Fingerprinting is free of charge for San Juan volunteers. If you would like to request to be fingerprinted and go through the volunteer approval process, please use the link below. San Juan Unified Volunteer Verification Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Earl LeGette!
Don’t wait until the last minute to do this process. Results from the Department of Justice can take up to four weeks to be returned. All volunteers need to sign in at the school office upon arriving on campus and wear a visitor’s sticker/badge when on site. Thank you for your service to the students and schools in SJUSD!
Volunteer Drivers
Thank you for volunteering to drive. Our teachers appreciate your support!
Every school year, the following documents will need to be turned in to your teacher:
